Bendigo Animal Welfare & Community Services (BAWCS) is a compassionate organization dedicated to saving and rehoming animals in need. Founded in 2003, BAWCS operates a shelter located approximately 20 minutes North of Bendigo. With a “caring with compassion” philosophy, BAWCS advocates for the welfare of all animals, providing a safe and enriched environment for domestic and farm animals that come into their care.
Operating under a Pro Life Policy, BAWCS is a ‘no kill’ shelter and farm sanctuary, ensuring animals are only euthanized in cases of suffering or irreparable conditions. The organization relies on donations from generous individuals and the dedication of volunteers to continue their mission of saving and rehoming animals. BAWCS also offers unique community programs to support disadvantaged pet owners, promoting responsible pet ownership and educating the public on various animal welfare issues.
