The A.C.T. Companion Dog Club is a not-for-profit volunteer-based organization located at the corner of Jerrabomberra Avenue and Narrabundah Lane in Symonston, 2609. Established in 1958, it is the first dog training club in Canberra, serving the local community for over 65 years. The club offers a range of behavior and dog sports training classes from February to November each year, focusing on Agility, Dances With Dogs, Flyball, Obedience Trialling, Rally, Tracking, and Tricks.
At the A.C.T. Companion Dog Club, we believe in training dogs using rewards-based, force-free methods that are rooted in contemporary canine behavioral science. Our experienced instructors are dedicated to helping members transform their dogs into well-behaved companions through positive reinforcement techniques. We emphasize the importance of respecting each dog’s individual needs and building their confidence to foster a strong bond between owners and their pets.
Members of the A.C.T. Companion Dog Club have the opportunity to participate in various activities and events, including community-oriented Dogs-As-Therapy programs and regular trials and race meets. The club’s ethos of ‘do no harm’ guides all training approaches, ensuring the welfare of the dogs is paramount. If you are passionate about dogs and looking to enhance your bond with your furry friend while having fun, consider becoming a member of our club and joining our force-free training classes.
